AI Portal — self-serve chatbot platform
A business owner goes from sign-up to a lead-capturing AI chatbot on their website in about ten minutes.
- React
- Zoho Catalyst
- Embeddable widget
- LLM chat
The problem
Small businesses lose leads in the gap between “visitor lands on the website” and “someone answers.” Hiring an agency to build a chatbot costs thousands and takes weeks. The goal: let a non-technical business owner stand up a branded, lead-capturing AI chatbot on their own site — self-serve, in minutes.
What I built
A three-step onboarding wizard with a live preview: pick brand colors, confirm business info, set appointment availability. The output is one script tag. Paste it into any site (or Google Tag Manager), and a “Connect” widget appears with five channels — Call, Text, Email, Book, Chat — backed by an AI assistant that answers questions and captures contact details.

The half nobody builds: the dashboard
A chatbot nobody monitors is a liability. ConvoInsight is the owner’s side of the product:
- Conversations — full transcripts with AI-written summaries, sentiment, duration, and message counts.
- Leads — every captured contact with source (chat, form, phone), status, and estimated value.
- Appointments — bookings created by the widget, with join/reschedule actions.
- Priority callbacks — urgent requests surfaced above the fold so they get handled first.

Decisions worth noting
- The wizard is the product. The model matters less than the path from sign-up to installed widget with zero engineering. Every step shows a live preview so the owner always sees what their visitors will see.
- The widget is a guest on someone else’s site. It loads async from Zoho Catalyst serverless, is namespaced, and must never break or restyle the host page.
- Summaries over transcripts. Owners don’t read 12-message threads; they read one AI summary and a sentiment tag, then decide who to call back.
My role
I built this as Alyne Interact — a self-serve chatbot product I created as an independent engineer working alongside my Alyne contract, outside its scope. The IP isn’t solely Alyne’s; this is my product work. I own the architecture and delivery of the portal: onboarding wizard, embeddable widget, install/verification flow, and the ConvoInsight dashboard. Screenshots shared with Alyne’s permission; data shown is staging/demo data. Two years earlier I built a self-serve chatbot platform of my own — the first iteration of this product category.
